Salvation      It is our desire that you go to heaven when it comes time for you to pass into eternity. There are so many confusing voices heard at various churches and ministries that it is hard to distinguish the true way for a person to go to heaven. Who is correct?  Let us look at what God Himself says.      In John 14:6 God's Son Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This must be taken literally, and Jesus says that He is the only way into heaven. There is absolutely no other way. Acts 4:12 says "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name (Jesus Christ) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved". So what does this mean, you ask. It means that those who accept the salvation that Jesus Christ paid for on the cross will go to heaven. Those who do this will have their name written in God's Book of Life. Revelation 20:15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." This book contains the names of those who receive the Eternal Life provided for by Jesus Christ. How do I get my name in the Book of Life, you ask. Here is how. 1.  Understand that you are a sinner. The Bible says, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) You and every other person born into this world have been born as a sinner. You were born into the spiritual family of sin as a sinner. In addition to being in the sin family, you commit sins. Admit that you are a sinner. 2.  As a sinner, if you chose to remain in the family of sin until you die, you "will be cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15). All who go into the lake of fire will be separated from God and all "saved" relatives and friends forever. That is eternal death! The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). 3.  The Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ paid the exact price in order for you to leave the family of sin. He was the only one who could do so. The price was His death on the cross. Jesus, the innocent, died for you, the guilty. You are guilty of being a sinner. Jesus died, was buried, and then He arose from the dead after three days. 4.  Pray to God in Heaven. Tell Him that you know you are a sinner. Tell Him that you desire for Him to forgive you for being a sinner. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save you out of the sin family and take you into the family of God. Your prayer might sound like this: "Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. Please forgive me for being a sinner. Forgive my sins. Lord Jesus, I believe you, the Son of God, are alive and in heaven right now. I ask you to save me out of the sin family and bring me into the family of God. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen." If you sincerely prayed that prayer to God, then God wrote your name in His Book of Life.  You need to regularly attend and join a Bible-believing church so that you can grow in the Lord.  Send us an email at heritagebaptist@comcast.net to let us know of your prayer for Salvation.  We will send you some material to help you and guide you to a good Bible-believing church.
